Sameer Rizvi Bought By CSK For 8.40 Crores In IPL Auction 2024

In an unforeseen twist at the ongoing IPL auction in 2024, Sameer Rizvi emerges as the paramount uncapped player, securing a groundbreaking deal with the Chennai Super Kings for a hefty sum of Rs 8.40 crore. Astoundingly, Rizvi had initially enlisted himself with a modest base price of Rs 20 lakh.

The commencement of the bidding war saw the Chennai Super Kings take the lead, swiftly followed by the formidable contenders, the Gujarat Titans. Both franchises unequivocally signaled their eagerness to secure the highly acclaimed young talent, pushing the bidding escalation to an impressive Rs 5 crore in no time.

As the emotional bidding saga unfolded, the Gujarat Titans gracefully bowed out at Rs 7.60 crore, paving the way for the Delhi Capitals to enter the fray. Chennai Super Kings, undeterred, elevated the stakes, offering a staggering Rs 8 crore for the proficient batsman, culminating in the ultimate acquisition at Rs 8.40 crore. Before Sameer Rizvi’s triumph, Shubham Dubey of Vidarbha had clinched a lucrative IPL contract with the Rajasthan Royals, securing a formidable Rs 5.80 crore.

Sameer Rizvi had been the subject of much speculation, foreseen as a catalyst for a fierce bidding spectacle in the IPL auction, courtesy of his remarkable performances in the inaugural UP T20 League. The 20-year-old prodigy seized the limelight with his batting prowess while representing the Kanpur Superstars.

This right-handed batsman astounded with two electrifying centuries, concluding the league with an impressive tally of 455 runs in a mere 9 games. His stellar displays for the Kanpur Superstars earned him accolades and trial invitations from three IPL franchises. Unfortunately, prior commitments to the state team prevented him from attending these trials.

Nevertheless, Sameer Rizvi continued to make waves, leaving an indelible mark on the UP U23 team. His striking innings of 95 runs off 65 balls in a one-day encounter against Rajasthan showcased his mettle. In the tournament’s final, he demonstrated his prowess by scoring 84 off 50 balls, leading his team to victory. Rizvi concluded the competition as the highest run-scorer, boasting an average of nearly 50 in 11 T20s and an impressive strike rate exceeding 134.
